QUARTERED ZEBRANO Also known as:
Zebrawood, Zingana
Botanical Name:
Microberlinia brazzavillensis
Origin:
West Africa
Description:
Very decorative stripy veneer with fine dark brown veining over a straw to light brown background. A small number of logs are crown cut but, generally Zebrano is quartered in order to maximize the linear appearance which is fashionably popular of late. The straighter, more fine-striped and contrasty it is, the more valued it becomes. Sometimes contains pockets of gum which may be visible as short, dark marks on the surface of the veneer.
