WENGE

CROWN WENGE
CROWN WENGE
Botanical Name: Milletia laurentii
Origin: Central and West Africa
Description: One of the darkest coloured veneers, Wenge is generally a rich chocolate brown with almost black veining, some logs being a little darker than others. It is a heavy wood with a texture that is coarse, giving the finished surface a distinctive and attractive look. The logs may be flat or half-round cut in order to produce crown veneer and there is a demand for straight grain material which is produced by quarter or rift cutting. Top quality Wenge is used for architectural interior decoration, panelling, etc. and is seen on modern furniture. Also available in 1.5 mm thickness.
