CROWN RED MERANTI

Also known as: Red Seraya

Botanical Name: Shorea spp.

Origin: Indonesia, Malaysia, Sarawak

Description: Various sub-species together make up the timber commercially known as Red Meranti. The veneer has a fairly coarse texture and looks somewhat like Mahogany, with a fairly lustrous surface. Not available in large quantities as a veneer, but occasionally used on doors and other interior joinery work.
