IMBUIA
Also known as:
Imbuya, Brazilian Walnut
Botanical Name:
Phoebe porosa
Origin:
Brazil
Description:
Logs vary in colour from dull browny yellow to rich chocolate and even darker. Often attractively figured or with unusual markings such as the aptly described “chicken-scratch” marks, which are unlike anything seen on other veneers. This species takes a high gloss finish very well. Imbuia is a special veneer used on high-class furniture and interiors.
Also occasionally available as Imbuia Burr which may be evenly coloured but usually looks more attractive when displaying both light and dark markings.
