CROWN ROCK ELM

Also known as: Grey Elm, White Elm

Botanical Name: Ulmus thomasii, U. americana

Origin: Canada, United States

Description: Strictly, true Rock Elm is from the first-named species above, and Grey/White Elm from the second. However, within the veneer and timber trades they all tend to be regarded as one type. Colour varies from a light creamy yellow to something approaching a pale pinkish brown. Has a finer texture than Red Elm and good, clean logs, favoured for architectural interiors, are not always easy to find.
