COCOBOLO

CROWN COCOBOLO
CROWN COCOBOLO
Also known as: Grenadillo, Granadillo
Botanical Name: Dalbergia retusa
Origin: Central and South America
Description: A rare and beautiful timber, Cocobolo is occasionally seen in veneer form but is expensive and only used for very special furniture and interior work. The veneer from different logs can be quite variable in appearance but inside the pale sapwood it is generally darkly colourful, incorporating various shades of orange, red, brown and almost black. It is a very heavy timber, close grained and lustrous with an oily feel.
