The logs are flat cut, usually producing a regular looking crown veneer with an even,
Mahogany like colour. It has a distinctive and agreeable smell. Very often the timber and veneer exudes a sticky gum or resin which is plainly visible on the surface. This disappears when the veneer is pressed.
