QUARTERED FIGURED BOSSE
Also known as:
Guarea, African Cedar
Botanical Name:
Guarea cedrata, G. thompsonii
Origin:
West Africa
Description:
Both these species are marketed as Guarea but, correctly speaking, G. cedrata is the one known as Bosse. Pinkish-brown when freshly cut, usually darkening somewhat to a good Mahogany colour, the large logs are mainly quartered and frequently have a very attractive mottle figure. Plainer logs are often flat sliced.
