CROWN ANEGRE
Also known as:
Anigre, Aniegre
Botanical Name:
Aningeria robusta, A. altissima
Origin:
West and East Africa
Description:
This useful species is available flat-cut and, more commonly, quarter-cut in both plain and figured veneer. With its fine, lustrous finish, quartered figured Anegre can look extremely elegant in appearance, and is used for high quality interiors and furniture. Intensity of figure varies greatly from log to log, the finest being a strong fiddleback at a 90 degree angle across the surface. The natural colour varies from light creamy yellow to pinky biscuit but for certain uses it is not uncommon to stain Anegre a darker colour.
