AFZELIA
Also known as:
Doussie, Aligna
Botanical Name:
Afzelia africana
Origin:
East, Central and West Africa
Description:
Logs are usually quartered to produce straight grained veneer that is roughly the colour of a warm Mahogany. Afzelia is a hard and heavy wood with a fairly coarse and irregular grain. Very occasionally a log may display dark and fairly random veining which will totally alter the look of the veneer, giving it a much more decorative appearance.
Plain Afzelia is mainly used on utility furniture and interior doors.
