Here we give a brief outline of our Company, its history and objectives.

CAPITAL CRISPIN VENEER

Capital Veneer Company Limited was incorporated in 1988 with the aim of supplying a wider than usual range of high quality wood veneers to architectural led fine furniture, panelling and joinery companies. In addition to the usual commercial species, unusual and special logs were also offered and a reputation was quickly made as suppliers of the finest veneer from all over the world.

From its original location in Stratford, east London, the company moved into larger premises in nearby Bow in 1996.

Now, owing to the successful London bid for the 2012 Olympic Games, we have had to move once again, off the Olympic Park and into a brand new warehouse in Beckton, not far from London City Airport.

CAPITAL CRISPIN VENEER

J. Crispin & Sons began life as far back as 1900 in Curtain Road, Shoreditch, just east of the City of London. The area was then a thriving centre for the furniture and cabinet making trades and over the next hundred years or so many thousands of craftsmen and veneer buyers visited the characterful old premises to seek out their veneer requirements.
The company also stocked a vast range of lines, bandings and marquetry inlays which were fashionable details in certain furniture and even doors for many years.

However, as the 1900's moved into the 2000's, it became clear that the venerable old premises were becoming less and less suitable as a modern-day operating base. Therefore, in 2001 it was suggested that it made sense for CAPITAL and CRISPIN to merge and trade as one from the modern warehouse facility in Bow, east London, previously occupied by Capital alone.

The successful merger took place in April 2002 and the trading name of CAPITAL CRISPIN VENEER was adopted.

The joining together of both companies sparked a renewed focus and enthusiasm for doing what we enjoy most of all - sourcing and stocking for our customers probably the widest selection of real, natural wood veneers available in the U.K. Every log of veneer to be found in our warehouse has been carefully selected by our experienced buyers with special regard to quality, colour, figure and overall cleanliness.

From Acacia to Zebrano, from Amboyna Burr to Yew Burr, we offer beautiful and inspiring veneers in well over 150 species - including of course good stocks of the more widely used varieties such as Beech, Maple, Oak, Walnut etc.

Every log and indeed every single leaf of veneer is a unique product of nature. That is why our product is so versatile and fascinating. A thoughtfully chosen veneer provides an individual and very special surface material, be it for furniture or some form of permanent interior decoration, i.e. panelling, doors, ceilings, etc. The wide range of visual effects due to differences in colour, grain pattern, figure and general character between the many varieties available is almost endless.

We work closely with Architects, Interior Designers, and Furniture Makers who consult and frequently visit us to source, select and specify particular veneers for projects of all sizes they are working on. Whether you are involved in a major refit, or new interior, a range of furniture or just a specific piece, we will be pleased to talk to you concerning your veneer requirements.
